Welcome

At Tupton Hall School we offer a supportive and very successful Sixth Form for students from a wide variety of different schools. We care about students’ academic and personal development and are committed to providing a friendly and supportive environment where each student may achieve their potential.

We have developed strong links with universities. Partnerships include The University of Sheffield, Sheffield Hallam University and the universities of Birmingham and Nottingham. These links are exceptionally valuable to our students as they benefit from mentoring, interview guidance, subject-specific workshops, financial support in the form of bursaries and unconditional offers for undergraduate study.

Our close working relationships with universities see our students secure places on competitive courses such as law and medicine. A large number of the cohort are offered summer schools with the Russell Group of universities.

Our current Ofsted rating of Good illustrates the bespoke support that we provide for all students. Inspectors commented that: “Students are extremely positive about the support and guidance they receive. Leaders have ensured that students receive additional guidance from external experts. This is effective in supporting their progression on to their next stages of education, employment or training.”

They also recognised that:

“Sixth form teachers have good subject knowledge. They have a good understanding of students’ needs and provide appropriate and challenging work that supports students.”

We strive to ensure that we support both the academic and personal development of our students here at Tupton Hall. We have great facilities for private study; including dedicated Sixth Form computer suites, our own common room and silent study provision. We also have a Pastoral Support Team for our students to access, as we are fully aware that many will need additional support alongside their studies.

We also recognise that our Sixth Formers have a lot to contribute to the wider school community; the pastoral system is organised into Houses and our Sixth Formers act as mentors and buddies to younger students, supporting their academic and personal development. This is a rewarding experience, which provides them with something extra for their CV and university application. Lower school students also gain in confidence and often we find their academic outcomes improve.
