Sixth Form Biologists Visit Sheffield Hallam University

Tupton Hall Sixth Form students visited Sheffield Hallam University on a trip to further their Biology studies.

Students worked with University lecturers and undergraduate students to carry out molecular biology techniques. These included PCR and Gel electrophoreses, allowing students to investigate which relative is the best tissue match for a patient in need of a new kidney. There were several options; sister, cousin or brother. This was a fantastic experience for students to engage with Biology in a more practical setting, and to gain more insight into University learning.

Mrs O Hall, Deputy Head of Science, commented; "It was a great day! A mix of Year 12 and Year 13 students had access to the University Biology labs and their specialised equipment. They did us proud and worked incredibly well alongside University lecturers and undergraduate students."
