🔬✨ Year 9 Options Week: A Taste of Separate Sciences! ✨🔬
Our Year 9 students have been getting hands-on this week as they explore what Separate Science has to offer before making their options choices — and they’ve certainly risen to the challenge!
🧠 Biology
Students carried out eye dissections, discovering the different parts of the eye and how they work together to help us see the world. A fascinating (and brave!) deep dive into human anatomy.
⚗️ Chemistry
In the lab, students completed a neutralisation experiment, giving them a feel for what a full titration would be like in Separate Science. Precision, colour changes, and plenty of scientific thinking!
🌟 Physics
Our budding physicists investigated convex lenses and explored how different optical lengths affect the way we see images — a great introduction to the physics of light.
These tasters are designed to help students make confident, informed choices about whether Separate Science is the right path for them — and it’s been fantastic to see such enthusiasm, curiosity, and scientific skill on display.
