Student Novelist Releases Debut Novel

Her novel, Castlebound will be released on 25 July 2025.

When asked about her success, Jess commented;

“I began writing Castlebound in 2023 (aged 14) as a fun side project. I've always wanted to publish a book and all it took was a lot of willpower, some extreme saving and a word document. It took me about four months to write the first draft, and the next two years were spent proofreading, editing and refining, fuelled by an undying support from teachers, family and friends."

"I did all the research into publishing and editing myself, and helped fund the overall cost. I decided to self-publish through Maple Publishing House (also known as White Magic Publishing Studios). I chose not to traditionally publish as I wanted to keep the rights of the book. Finally, on the 19th of April this year (aged 16), I received my "pre-publication copy" and held my book in my hands for the first time."
