Year 13 Mock Interviews

Our Year 13 students recently took part in a series of mock interviews with employers from across a range of sectors, providing them with a valuable opportunity to experience a realistic recruitment process and prepare for their next steps beyond sixth form.
Throughout the interviews, students practised key employability skills including professional communication, answering competency-based questions, demonstrating their strengths and achievements, discussing future ambitions, presenting themselves confidently, and responding effectively to feedback. The experience also helped students develop resilience, self-awareness, interview etiquette, and the ability to articulate the skills and qualities that employers and universities are looking for.
Following each interview, students received personalised feedback from industry professionals, giving them practical guidance on how to improve their performance and increase their confidence in future applications, interviews, apprenticeships, employment, and higher education opportunities.
This event forms an important part of our Careers Information, Education, Advice and Guidance (CIEAG) programme and supports several of the Gatsby Benchmarks, particularly:
- Benchmark 5: Encounters with Employers and Employees
- Benchmark 6: Experiences of Workplaces
- Benchmark 7: Encounters with Further and Higher Education
We would like to extend our sincere thanks to the employers who generously gave their time and expertise to support our students:
- Specsavers
- Clee Hill
- Rykneld Homes
- Derbyshire Police
- Banner Jones LLP
- Citizens Advice
- Garrard Jones
- The Bolsover School
- Redbrik Estate Agency
The professionalism, enthusiasm and encouragement shown by our partners made a significant impact on the students' experience.
We are particularly proud of our students, who represented the Sixth Form exceptionally well. Their preparation, maturity, professionalism and positive attitude were frequently praised by the interviewers. They approached the experience with confidence and determination, making an excellent impression and demonstrating the high standards we strive for within our Sixth Form community.
